Greenwich Peninsula Masterplan

A Landmark in Urban Regeneration

A global exemplar of transformation that reshaped a post‑industrial riverside into a vibrant district of homes, culture, education, and world‑leading entertainment
We have played a defining role in the transformation of Greenwich Peninsula, bringing our masterplanning expertise to one of Europe’s most ambitious urban regeneration projects. Our journey began in 1999, when we acquired 18.5 acres of land next to the Millennium Dome—an early, strategic move that placed us at the centre of a future 150‑acre redevelopment opportunity. By 2001, our capability and vision were recognised with our appointment by Greenwich Council and English Partnerships to lead the masterplanning of the entire Peninsula, setting the foundations for a new district with long‑term cultural and economic resonance.

In 2004, we secured planning permission for a 14 million sq ft mixed‑use masterplan that would redefine the area’s potential. Our blueprint integrated 10,000 new homes, commercial and leisure space, and extensive public realm improvements, ensuring the Peninsula evolved into a truly mixed and sustainable urban neighbourhood. Critically, we facilitated AEG’s entry into the UK market, enabling the redevelopment of the Millennium Dome into The O2—now one of the world’s busiest and most respected entertainment venues.

To accelerate delivery, in 2012 we formed a joint venture with Knight Dragon. Through this partnership, we secured outline consent for 1,683 homes and two hotels at Peninsula Quays, along with detailed consent for 506 homes at Peninsula Riverside, driving momentum into the regeneration project.

Our delivery extended beyond residential development. We created major educational and commercial anchors, including Ravensbourne College, 440,000 sq ft of office space, and student accommodation that enriched the area’s creative and academic ecosystem.

Today, Greenwich Peninsula reflects our long‑term vision: a vibrant, connected and enduring new district, and a legacy that showcases the power of masterplanning reinforced by strong strategic partnerships.

“The regeneration of Greenwich Peninsula showcases true urban transformation. Through masterplanning vision, strategic partnerships and delivery excellence, we are proud of our role in reshaping East London’s riverfront, revitalising The O2 and surrounding districts, and sparking cultural and economic growth; ultimately boosting tourism, strengthening local economies and enriching community life.”
