17 Apr 2019

COME AND BE WRAPPED IN A RAINBOW

• Wembley Park to host world-famous, Colourscape, this Bank Holiday, 4-6th May
•The labyrinth of colour and light (free entrance) will have ‘world music’ musicians and dancers to complement the cornucopia of colour
• The installation will surprise and delight visitors of all ages

To celebrate May Bank Holiday on 4th- 6th May, as part of its cultural and community programming, Wembley Park - the world-famous location, fast becoming the North West London’s live, work and play hotspot - will host Colourscape the immersive weekend of music, dance and colour for all the family.

Colourscape, the labyrinth of colour and light (free entrance) will be situated on Wembley Park Boulevard (next to the London Designer Outlet) between 11am - 4:30pm. Originally created by artist Peter Jones in the early 70s, Colourscape is a huge walk-in structure of many interlinked chambers. Step into this psychedelic maze of light and explore for a while to discover a large Silver Dome and live musicians playing instruments from Tibet, China and Mongolia while dancers lead you on a journey of colour.

Eye Music Trust is bringing Colourscape to Wembley Park (with extra funding help from Arts Council England and City Bridge Trust). Musicians include Michael Ormiston (who performs Mongolian Overtone singing and Tibetan Singing Bowls), Ansuman Biswas (Asian and other traditional percussion) and Beibei Wang (traditional Chinese percussion). There will be different combinations of performers each day so the music and dance is ever-changing around the colourful chambers.

With over 30 years of experience and created to make you feel like you have been “wrapped in a rainbow”, visitors will be given special coloured capes to wear so they blend into the interactive cornucopia of colour. Colourscape has become synonymous with creating immersive, colourful experiences for everyone around the globe popping up for events such as the Vienna Festival of Youth, Cologne for the World Cup and Turku for European Capital of Culture.

Visit Wembley Park Colourscape for an unforgettable experience, entering a new world exploring colour, music light and space that will take you on a memorable journey.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no pre-booking for Colourscape. Free tickets are obtained on the door, on the day, and admit you for up to 30 minutes. We recommend that you come as close to opening time as possible as we expect a high demand. At very busy times we will run a “virtual queue” so that you don’t need to wait in a queue but can come back at a later timed slot and can enjoy the other attractions of Wembley. The installation is also completely accessible for wheelchairs but assistance is recommended. No dogs are allowed within the installation and children must be accompanied by an adult.
