A Bumper Christmas at Quintain’s London Designer Outlet

14 Jan 2015

Quintain’s London Designer Outlet (“LDO”) enjoyed bumper trading over the holiday season, welcoming over half a million visitors in the four weeks running up to Christmas. In just over one year of trading, Wembley Park’s LDO has firmly established itself as one of London’s most appealing retail and leisure destinations, attracting over five million people.

Over the Christmas period LDO retailers, such as Gap, The Works, H&M, Adidas and Next, offered shoppers bargains of up to 75% off recommended retail prices, and saw huge increases in like-for-like sales of between 35% and 75%. Restaurants were brimming, and Cineworld – the only cinema in the Wembley area – all nine screens were full of cinema-goers. On Christmas Eve, over 18,000 people visited LDO to grab some last minute bargains before Christmas Day from London’s only outlet centre.

LDO’s Christmas shoppers also enjoyed the people-friendly environment at Wembley Park with its wide open spaces and iconic Wembley views. The German themed Christmas market was popular with visitors and 24,000 energetic guests took to the ice on London’s newest ice rink, located right beside the LDO. Festivities culminated in the arrival of the Coca-Cola truck, which made Wembley Park the final stop on its annual Christmas tour, to the delight of many.

Quintain's Wembley Park offered an exciting range of events in the last three months of the year: the SSE Arena hosted some major showbiz with the live X Factor final on 13 and 14 December, when the singing contest's winner Ben Haenow - and the show's fans - took advantage of LDO’s tempting shops and restaurants. Former X Factor contestants Little Mix and Union J dropped in for a bite to eat at LDO’s Ping Pong and Frankie & Benny’s ahead of the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards in October. Visitors to Wembley Park in the run up to Christmas also enjoyed live ice sculpting, urban skaters, special skating ‘just for kids’ sessions, and late night Christmas carol singing.

Over recent years Quintain has invested heavily in the transformation of Wembley Park, developing LDO, adjacent Hilton Hotel, Brent Civic Centre and focusing on the delivery of thousands of new homes to create a new destination in the capital for people, businesses and communities to thrive.

James Saunders, Chief Operating Officer, Quintain said: “Christmas capped off a remarkable year at Wembley Park and nowhere is this more evident than at London Designer Outlet where half a million visitors came during December to enjoy all this fantastic centre has to offer. With its excellent range of outlet shops and strong leisure offering, LDO has firmly established itself as an exciting destination for London’s shoppers.
